Laura is an expert by experience, advocating for individuals with learning disabilities and autism. Since leaving formal education, she has dedicated her career to championing inclusion and empowerment. Laura served for seven years as Chair of Worcestershire People’s Parliament, co-chaired the Learning Disabilities Partnership Board for Worcestershire County Council, and has played a key role in various initiatives aimed at improving healthcare access for those with learning disabilities. As a Health Checker, she contributed to the development of the LD Annual Health Check.
In 2011, Laura founded The Monday Night Club, a charity providing social and health-focused opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and autism. Her impactful work has been acknowledged with numerous accolades, including the Prime Minister’s Shining Light Award, a place on the Leaders' List for LD and Autism, and the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2018.
Currently, Laura is a Trainer for the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training for Health and Social Care staff and works as a Quality Checker for Aspire, a supported living provider. She also brings three years of experience to the Sensory-Friendly Environments project, demonstrating her deep commitment to improving lives and promoting inclusion.
