Dr Joanna Fletcher-Smith is an award winning clinical academic and case manager. Joanna currently holds the roles of Case Management Services Lead at Harrison Associates and Honorary Associate Professor at The University of Nottingham School of Health Sciences. Joanna is an HCPC registered occupational therapist by professional background and worked clinically in the NHS in acute hospital settings prior to spending just over a decade working in clinical research, mainly randomised controlled trials of neurological rehabilitation interventions.
Joanna moved into the case management industry, starting as Associate Case Manager, progressing to Clinical Lead, Clinical Manager, and now heads up the case management service of a nationwide company. She continues to hold a small caseload of catastrophically injured clients, predominantly those with brain injury and complex poly trauma.
Joanna is also involved in supporting the industry through her voluntary work on the research groups of two of the case management membership bodies, CMSUK and BABICM and is joining the Board of the Institute of Registered Case Managers in September 2024.
Joanna is passionate about improving the quality and effectiveness of rehabilitation services for those impacted by disability and trauma, through the implementation of evidence-based practice and continued professional development of the case management workforce.
