The Occupational Therapy Show 2024: A Resounding Success at NEC Birmingham

The Occupational Therapy Show 2024: A Resounding Success at NEC Birmingham
The two-day event delivered an unrivalled combination of education, innovation, and networking, drawing thousands of occupational therapy professionals eager to advance their expertise and connect with peers.

Unmissable Highlights of the Show

The 2024 show featured an exceptional lineup of speakers over 100 CPD-certified hours on offer spread across six dedicated theatres, covering diverse topics relevant to all levels of practice and specialisations.

Some of our top speakers included:

Odeth Richardson – Chair of Council, Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT)

Samantha Shann – President, World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT)

Paul Smith – Director, Foundations

Emma Taylor – Occupational Therapist, The Occupational Therapy Service

Simon Fielden – Technical Director, Rahana Life

Adrian Schaife – Tec Specialist, The Access Group, Health, Support and Care.

Furthermore, the programme, which covered mental health and paediatrics as well as technology and clinical practice, was carefully curated to inspire and empower attendees. One method used to achieve this was through the on-stand educational workshops, which allowed exhibitors to host hands-on demonstrations and provide practical insights into their cutting-edge solutions. This immersive format created a dynamic learning environment directly on the show floor. Additionally, attendees also enjoyed the IRCM Roadshow, which offered key updates and support on different aspects of case management practice—further enhancing the event's value for delegates.

Celebrating Excellence with Awards
The event celebrated the outstanding contributions of the occupational therapy community through the Poster Zone Awards, which recognized innovative research and projects. Samantha Shann, President of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, judged and presented awards to the winners on both days of the show, adding prestige and recognition to the occasion.

In addition, the prestigious Exhibitor Awards highlighted the creativity, engagement, and innovation of participating companies, setting a high benchmark for future events.

Feedback and Looking Ahead
The feedback from delegates and exhibitors alike was overwhelmingly positive.

Shelley Williams, Group Event Director remarked: “The OT Show is an incredible celebration of our profession, bringing together passionate occupational therapists to share knowledge, inspire innovation, and advance the impact we have on people's lives. It's an unmissable event for anyone dedicated to making a difference.”

Similarly, Lucy Leonard from the OT Project praised the event, saying: “Our stand was buzzing with positivity, confidence and determination that the occupational therapy makes a difference.”

CloserStill Media, the organisers of the Occupational Therapy Show, have announced that the event will return to the NEC Birmingham on 26–27 November 2025, promising another landmark gathering for the profession.
