Our Managing Diverse & Complex Manual Handling Situations (Advanced Level 4) course is a customised two-day, Level 4 RoSPA-accredited qualification designed for professionals managing diverse and complex manual handling situations within health and social care environments. This course aims to enhance participants' competencies, enabling them to evaluate, develop, and implement advanced manual handling practices that prioritise safety and well-being.

Aims and Objectives:

  • Review and Evaluate Current Competencies
    Assess your day-to-day handling practices for complex and diverse situations, evaluating your performance against health and social care policies, assessment tools, organizational requirements, and feedback from service users, families, and staff.
  • Managing Diverse and Complex Handling Situations
    Analyze how challenging handling scenarios affect safe work systems for both handlers and service users, considering risk levels, equipment suitability, and organizational and individual needs.
  • Facilitate and Review Safe Systems of Work
    Evaluate the effectiveness of developed safe systems of work, identify any conflicts or limitations, and revise these systems to overcome challenges and enhance safety.
  • Assessment Tools for Complex Handling
    Critically evaluate assessment tools, such as risk assessments and clinical justification tools, for their validity and reliability in managing complex and diverse handling scenarios, and propose necessary adjustments.
  • Competency-Based Assessments and Workforce Development
    Assess current moving and handling competencies within your workplace and develop strategies to improve staff attitudes, approaches, and skills for managing complex handling needs.
  • Training Others in Advanced Techniques
    Develop and deliver training sessions on unique moving and handling techniques tailored to complex scenarios, empowering your team to handle diverse manual handling challenges confidently.
