Assistive technologies to support upper limb impairment can provide life changing independence for people, and yet, they are often overlooked or not well understood. They can make the difference between retaining arm function and losing it; between empowerment and dependence.
This session will introduce you to the applicability and benefits of assistive arm supports, robotic arms, dining companions, hands free wheelchair controls and gripping aids for hands. These solutions help people with neuromuscular conditions (such as muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy and motor neurone disease), spinal injuries (including tetraplegia) and chronic muscle pain and fatigue.
